You Me & Charlie | Lillian Bassman

A love letter to Lillian,

Lillian Bassman is a photographer that captured my heart upon discovery. Just like the moment in Sabrina where young Audrey Hepburn shows up at the train station in her new Parisian look, or appears at the Larrabee party in her black and white gown, the fashion displayed in Lillian’s photographs leaves me breathless. Lillian’s work is considered some of the finest in her field to date. Such as Avedon, who of Lillian’s work said, “visible that heartbreaking invisible place between the appearance and the disappearance of things.” Her high contrast black and white images capture the elegance of women, the fashion of yesterday and influences of today.
